How is this different from the daily game?
The daily game gives everyone one word per day. Here the word is picked at random each round, and you can play as many rounds as you like. The rules stay the same: six guesses, with green, yellow and grey tiles to guide you.
How do I start a new word?
When a round ends, tap New game under the board. You can also leave a round halfway and reload the page for a fresh word. Rounds here are not saved to your stats, so there is no cost to trying risky guesses.
Why practise with endless words?
A daily puzzle teaches you one pattern a day. Twenty rounds in a row teach you twenty. You start to see which openers work, how to handle double letters and when to spend a guess testing new letters instead of guessing the answer.
Practice drills to try
- Same opener, ten rounds. Keep your first guess fixed and learn what each colour pattern tells you.
- Two word start. Use the two openers suggested below as guesses one and two. Together they test ten different letters.
- Hard rules. Make every guess use all the green and yellow letters you have found. It is harder, but it builds sharp habits.
- Three in a row. Try to solve three words in a row in four guesses or fewer.

Which words should you start with?
We ranked every word in our list of 2,096 answers by how many answers contain its letters. These 2 openers share no letters, so together they test 10 different letters: RATES, LINGO. On average they uncover 66% of an answer's letters.
The letters that show up in the most answers are E (46.7%), A (40%), R (36%), S (30.5%), T (28.9%), O (28.3%). The most common endings are ER (5.3%), ED (4.1%), CH (2.5%), LY (2.1%), SE (2%). And 31% of answers use a letter more than once.
