How do sixty four boards work?
Each guess you type goes onto all 64 boards at once. Every board has its own hidden word and its own colours, so the same guess can be green on one board and grey on the next. You have 69 guesses in total. A board locks as soon as you solve it, and your later guesses only count on the boards still open.
How much room for error is there?
Sixty four solving guesses leave five spare, the same margin as the thirty two board game but spread over twice the words. After your openers, almost every guess must solve a board.
How to stay organised
- Work in rows. Go through the boards in order and solve each one that has a single possible word.
- Mark tricky boards in your head. Boards with patterns like the HATCH, LATCH, MATCH group need a planned test guess. Save a spare guess for them.
- Let answers help each other. Every word you type is also a clue on up to sixty three other boards. Choose answers that test letters you still need.
Is it worth trying?
It is a long, calm game rather than a fast one. If you enjoy the smaller versions and want a puzzle you can work on over a coffee break or two, it is a good challenge.
