How do you play?
- Type a true equation that is exactly seven characters, like 12+7=19 or 15*3=45.
- Press Enter and read the colors.
- Find the hidden equation within six guesses.
Green means the right character in the right spot. Yellow means it is in the equation somewhere else. Grey means it is not in the equation.
How is seven characters different from eight?
With seven tiles there is less room, so most answers have one sign on the left and a one or two digit result. That makes the equals sign easy to place, and the game becomes more about which digits and which sign. It is a good warm up before the longer equation game.
What is a good first guess?
Pick a guess that uses many different digits and one sign, such as 9+18=27 or 15*3=45. You want to learn which digits are in play as fast as you can. Try a different sign on your second guess if the first came back grey.
Tips for solving in fewer guesses
- Place the equals sign early. It splits the puzzle into a sum and an answer.
- Check whether the answer has one or two digits.
- Use yellow digits in new spots, as you would with letters.
- Every guess must be true, so do the math before you press Enter.
