What are the hard rules?
- Any letter that turned green must stay in that exact spot in every later guess.
- Any letter that turned yellow must appear somewhere in every later guess.
- If a letter was found twice, your guess must use it twice.
If a guess breaks a rule, the game tells you why and does not count it. Grey letters can still be used, but they will not help.
Green means the right letter in the right spot. Yellow means the letter is in the word but in a different spot. Grey means the letter is not in the word at all.
Why is it harder than the normal game?
In the normal game you can spend a guess on five fresh letters to learn more. Here every guess has to fit what you know, so you cannot step back and test new letters. That makes word families like BATCH, CATCH, HATCH, LATCH, MATCH and PATCH dangerous. You may have to try them one by one.
How do you beat the hard rules?
- Open wide. Your first guess is the only free one. Use five common letters that do not repeat.
- Pick guesses that test many options. When greens lock some spots, fill the open spots with the most common letters you have not tried.
- Spot trap families early. If three or more words fit, count your guesses left. If there are fewer guesses than words, guess the most common one first.
- Think about double letters. A word like EERIE or LLAMA can hide behind clues that seem to point at single letters.
Is there a daily puzzle?
Yes. Everyone gets the same word each day, and it changes at midnight UTC. Switch to Unlimited above the board for extra rounds under the same hard rules.
